World-Class Trainers and Health Coaches
REAL Human Performance was co-founded in 2014 by four visionaries to create a full spectrum community for the mind, body and spirit. For 12 years, the team provided functional fitness and resilience at our community gym and expanded beyond the green turf to online training, conference keynotes and onsite training within change-making organizations.
Jen Schneeman, MBA, C-IAYT, CDCA, CMHC (she/her)
Jen is a soul-driven scientist, trauma-informed nervous system resilience specialist, board-certified holistic mental health coach and co-founder of REAL Human Performance.
With 24 years in health & human performance, Jen facilitates personalized stress management, burnout resilience and posttraumatic growth programs that empower people to live with more ease, self-trust and peace.
Jen guides people to reclaim stuck survival energy, expand their energy capacity and become burnout proof. Jen guides real humans to live a life of real-time resilience without the stress of nonstop thoughts and exhausting energy leaks.
Early in her career, Jen served as a science + tech advisor at DARPA/Defense Sciences Office and the Air Force Research Lab, Human Performance Wing, studying epigenetics - how trauma, nutrition, and stress uniquely impact human resilience and also inform future determinants of health.
She translated those scientific insights into real-time resilience training and has coached two NFL teams, four military branches, dozens of corporations, hundreds of health-conscious leaders, recovery peers and treatment professionals and thousands of other real humans just like us, looking to optimize their personal energy for more flow and less drag in life.
Jen doesn’t just coach real-time resilience, she lives it, having navigated stress-related burnout in a post-9/11 culture of constant go-go-go. Jen knows first-hand how chronic stress, concussion and trauma impacts the nervous system communication and presents physically with autoimmunity, chronic pain and burnout.
From her personal journey and professional work in the mental health and addiction communities, Jen shares how no amount of bootstrapping can sustainably reignite a nervous system after experiencing burnout. Even more, how continuous overriding the system may ‘work’ short-term, but long-term, only creates faster pathways to burnout.
Jen committed to training, research and application for nervous system regulation and capacity restoration by bridging the science and lived experience to make nervous system education practical, accessible and actionable.
In 2016, she developed and directed the Self Care and Resilience™ program, a holistic stress management and nervous system resilience program that reduces perceived stress, improves coping skills, establishes energetic boundaries and reverses compassion fatigue. This collaborative work is featured across local and national news outlets, the data outcomes presented at the American Academy of Health Behavior and International Society of Traumatic Stress and training facilitated around the globe.
As a sought-after international resilience coach, speaker and facilitator, Jen brings warmth, humor, and depth to conversations about trauma-informed care, burnout prevention and posttraumatic growth. Additionally, she finds full-circle meaning while supporting military reintegration, justice-involved humans, trauma-informed care in corporations, somatic justice and youth empowerment work across the country.
Jen is committed to rehumanizing our society through state grants like Hey, I’m Here Ohio, a diverse youth-led movement on a mission to grow resilience in Ohio’s youth. She believes in the power of peer support and is an ally to youth leaders and advocates across prevention, recovery, and treatment spaces, guiding them to hold trauma-informed spaces and embody the skills needed to lead, connect, engage all voices and create meaningful change.
Overall, Jen is deeply committed to building systems of care where nervous system literacy and whole human health are the norms, not the exceptions. She holds the steady belief that when we manage our personal energy, we increase sustainability for ourselves, for our communities and for our planet.
For her own restoration, you will find Jen camping with her family, hiking and biking local trails, kayaking local rivers, backyard gardening and crafting seasonal projects.
